Lawrence Tech celebrates 75th anniversary with May 3 open house

Southfield, Mich. – The entire family will have fun when Lawrence Technological University holds its 75th anniversary open house on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 21000 West Ten Mile Road in Southfield. The public is invited and admission is free.

Visitors can see a “Whiz Bang” chemistry demonstration, products developed by students, alternative energy demonstrations, formula and baja racing vehicles built by students, as well as plans for a hydrogen-powered race kart that will compete internationally this summer.

Lawrence Tech students will explain how projects and activities have enriched their educational experience. Visitors can experience the fun side of education at the college level and discover some of the academic, financial aid and housing opportunities available at Lawrence Tech.

There will several food booths and fun activities include a Velcro wall, sumo wrestling, a mechanical bull, airbrush tattoos and a baseball throw.

A fireworks display on the campus quad is at 9 p.m.

Lawrence Technological University, ltu.edu, offers more than 60 undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programs in Colleges of Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Engineering and Management. Founded in 1932, the 4,500-student, private university pioneered evening classes 75 years ago, and today has a growing number of weekend and online programs. Lawrence Tech’s 102-acre campus is in Southfield, with education centers in Lansing, Livonia, Clinton Township, Traverse City and Petoskey. Lawrence Tech also offers programs with partner universities in Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
