Southfield, Mich. – Lawrence Technological University President Lewis N. Walker has been appointed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm to a three-year term on the State Higher Education Facilities Commission.

Walker is a resident of Plymouth. He became president of Lawrence Tech in 2006 after serving as provost since 1994.

The State Higher Education Facilities Commission issues bonds in order to make loans to private nonprofit colleges and universities for various capital needs, including construction of new facilities, renovation of existing facilities and equipment purchases.

Lawrence Technological University, ltu.edu, offers over 80 undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programs in Colleges of Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Engineering and Management. Founded in 1932, the 4,500-student, private university pioneered evening classes 75 years ago, and today has a growing number of weekend and online programs.
