Southfield, Mich. – Lawrence Technological University and North Central Michigan College have signed a university partnership agreement that will enable northern Michigan residents to earn a bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT) entirely in Petoskey.

Under the agreement, a student may be able to earn up to 75 credits at North Central and transfer those credits to Lawrence Tech for a bachelor’s degree in IT.  All classes needed to complete the bachelor’s degree will be offered by Lawrence Tech on North Central’s campus in Petoskey. 

This new educational opportunity will be of particular interest to North Central students working toward an associate degree of applied science in either computer information systems or computer networking.

To help students get a head start on their bachelor’s degree in IT, Lawrence Tech will offer two upper-level courses at North Central starting in September 2008.  These courses will have no prerequisites and can be taken by recent high school graduates.

Bush, director of undergraduate management programs at Lawrence Tech. “A bachelor’s degree in information technology through Lawrence Tech provides students with a strong business and technology knowledge base to solve organizational problems and exploit market opportunities.”

Lawrence Tech, which has offices in North Central’s University Center, currently offers classes in Petoskey leading to a master’s degree in business administration.
