Pre-Core Requirements

The pre-core requirements for MBA program include the following:

Financial Accounting
Finance
Statistics
Legal environment
Economics
Marketing

Students who do not have prior coursework in business or substantial relevant work experience can choose one of the following three options to meet such requirements:

Take pre-core courses at Lawrence Tech University;
Take pre-core courses at other accredited colleges or universities with passing grade of “C” or better. Click here for a list of acceptable courses offered by local colleges and universities. You will also need to submit Michigan Uniform Undergraduate Guest Application form and the Guest Credit Approval Form to the College of Management.
Do self-study and test out the requirements. A list of pre-core syllabi for self- study are available in the COM upon request. If you decide to test out, please follow the procedures below:

Obtain syllabus and prepare for your Pre-Core Test
Speak with your advisor before taking the exam
Call (248) 204-3050 to schedule date and time to take the test (must be at least six weeks before the start of the next semester)
Allow yourself at least 3 hours to take the test (the office is open until 6:30 pm).
Pay your test fee of $150.00 at the time of testing
Results may take 2-4 weeks.
