Interested in technology, design, or science? Lawrence Technological University offers you a variety of camps run by professors who will introduce you to the latest innovations in modern labs and studios using state-of-the-art equipment. And, what’s more, you can choose to make these day camps residential and experience college life first hand. You’ll live in student housing, eat in Café Lawrence, and participate each evening in a fun selection of organized activities.

Autonomous Robotics Camp
July 7 – 11, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., $450/residential $550
Assemble Lawrence Tech’s laptop robot, L2Bot, complete with a webcam. You’ll explore concepts in autonomous robotics navigation, image processing, computer vision, and voice recognition while learning the basics of object-oriented Java programming. Some knowledge of a programming language is helpful, but not required. After the camp, you’ll be able to participate in Collegiate Robofest Mini Urban Challenge in December 2008 and spring 2009 (visit robofest.net/collegiate).
Alternative Energy and Power Generation Camp
July 14 – 18, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., $450/residential $550
Alternative energy sources include hydrogen fuel cells, solar heating, photovoltaic, biomass, wind turbines, and geothermal systems. Working in Lawrence Tech’s state-of-the-art Alternative Energy Research Laboratory, you’ll not only learn the fundamentals of each of these technologies, but also gain hands-on use with full-size and commercially available equipment.
Architecture and Interior Design Camp
July 14 – 18, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., $300/residential $400
Have fun while you learn what skills are needed in the architecture and interior design fields. You'll visualize space and form, draw plans, make models, and select furniture and colors. You'll also meet with professional architects and interior designers.
Automotive Design Camp
July 14 – 18, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., $450/residential $550
Do you have a talent for drawing and a passion for styling cars? In this camp, you’ll learn about the design and development of concept cars, create ideation sketches, and experiment with scale modeling. You’ll see professional demonstrations and receive individual evaluations of your work. Scholarships can be awarded to top student designers!
Imaging and Graphic Design Camp
July 14 – 18, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., $300/residential $400
Develop your artistic skills as you find out what it takes to be a graphic designer. You'll create artwork for computer games, cartoons, and advertising layouts. Sketching, photography, computer-based graphics, and animation will be featured.
Biotechnology Camp
July 21 – 25, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., $450/residential $550
In a research lab setting, you’ll learn how to genetically engineer bacteria, grow mammalian cells, and identify cloned genes. You’ll also see how DNA-profiling techniques can solve crimes and how high-tech tools can diagnose diseases and track the outbreak of infections.
Gaming Camp
July 21 – 25, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., $450/residential $550
In this intensive program, you’ll focus on the dynamic world of video game development. You’ll learn the concepts of game design and the basics of 3D graphics production, including modeling, texturing, and animating. You’ll be required to play games and will create your own mini-game portfolio.
