------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WIMBA is a suite of online communication tools that consist of:
WIMBA Live Classroom, WIMBA Voice Boards, WIMBA Voice Email, and WIMBA Podcaster
WIMBA Live Classroom is a powerful collaboration application, which is integrated within Blackboard. It allows faculty and students to communicate with multiple modalities, reach diverse learning styles, and build relationships by using state-of-the-art interactive technologies.
LTU has the capability to integrate video technology, in addition to chat, voice, interactive questioning, application sharing, and white boarding, & other collaboration tools. WIMBA sessions may also be archived, then be available for further student review and accessibility.
What do students have to say about WIMBA?
Here are some comments from students who utilized WIMBA within their fall 2007 undergraduate and graduate courses:
“I enjoyed the live class very much. Wimba is pretty amazing. I can see how this is our future.”
“Since Wimba was only used for presenting projects, it could also be used outside of class if people want to work together on projects.”
“WIMBA allowed students to interact with each other and the professor.”

WIMBA Live Classroom Presentation
Wimba is a “live classroom” that can be activated within each Blackboard course to allow the instructor and students to hold “virtual” classes. Wimba can be accessed by any student currently enrolled in Blackboard courses.
A PowerPoint presentation entitled, “An Introduction to Wimba” will assist students on how to access Wimba Live Classroom. In addition, first time users need to utilize the Setup Wizard features. The Setup Wizard will test the student’s computer to ensure that they can access all the features of a “live classroom.”
