The Veraldi Instructional Technology Resource Center (VITRC) is offering grants to encourage faculty to enhance teaching methodology in the classroom and student learning using the Tablet PC. The ability to write, sketch, draw, or annotate with the tablet stylus in order to share results instantaneously, or to collaborate in real time, adds new dimensions to classroom interaction. Successful faculty projects will incorporate innovative Tablet PC interactive teaching and learning uses with their face-to-face, hybrid or online courses. They may integrate any or some of the following applications: Word, PowerPoint, Windows Journal, Classroom Presenter and OneNote. Use of Snipping Tool, Write On, Education Pack, and Experience Pack as well as discipline specific applications may also be incorporated. See below for details.
These grants are made possible through the VITRC department whose mission is to enhance the teaching and learning process in the university community by promoting the integration of emerging technology tools into instruction.
VITRC will award up to four $2,000 grants
-
Grantees will receive $500 upon selection; $500 upon demontration to VITRC acceptable progress at mid-point; and $1,000.00 upon completion of the proposal
-
Faculty may also work together to construct their grant proposal. If collaborating as a team, they may be considered for individual awards
The grants are meant to be an incentive for faculty to adapt current courses or create new courses to enhance the learning environment using the Tablet PC. Any costs associated with the course development (videos, books, equipment, etc.) should be paid by University and/or Departmental funds.
