Program Summary
Health information management professionals that have solid training in both information technology and clinical processes are in demand. According to Crain's Detroit there is a shortage of specialized health care information technology workers. The need for centralized and secure health information systems are driving this specialty and professionals that are prepared to hit the ground running are in demand. Lawrence Technological University is the only Detroit area university offering a graduate program in health information technology management.
- The program may be completed in a minimum of 12 credit hours*.
- Classes are taught by faculty that have relevant, professional experience in health IT management so you benefit from their expertise.
- You will learn how to create, maintain, manage and support complex healthcare systems.
- Whether you are a clinician interested in learning more about information technology, or an IT professional considering a career transition into the healthcare environment, this program has been developed to meet both needs.
- Graduates of this program should have the skill set to excel at positions requiring knowledge of management, medical terminologies, healthcare terminologies, healthcare business requirements, healthcare laws, system analysis, data management, implementation, technical/software/infrastructure support, and training.
This program is offered as a certificate program and as a concentration within the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Master of Science in Information Systems and the Master of Business Administration programs.
