The Campaign for Lawrence Tech:
A Commitment to Our Students
Begun in 2001, The Campaign for Lawrence Tech was the first comprehensive fund-raising campaign in University history. By today's standards, the goal of $20 million was modest. The campaign was a rousing success. The goal was increased to $25 million, and the new target was met more than two years ahead of schedule. Thanks to a $6 million leadership gift from alumnus Edward Donley and wife Inez, this phase of the campaign transformed Lawrence Tech and featured construction of the University Technology and Learning Center and Student Housing-North. In addition, laboratories were built, new programs were added, facilities were renovated and the number of endowed scholarships doubled.
Not content to rest on their accomplishments, the campaign leadership concluded that more could be done. The second and final phase of the Campaign was launched. The Campaign for Lawrence Tech: A Commitment to Our Students focuses on three objectives:
- Construction of the A. Alfred Taubman Student Services Center,
- Endowed Scholarships, and
- Campus Life and Recreation.
