The former Lawrence Tech architecture student is founder of the Taubman Company, one of America's premier real estate developers and operator of regional shopping centers. Demonstrating his commitment to education, Taubman made a leadership gift of $4 million to the Campaign for Lawrence Tech.

Redevelopment of Lawrence Technological University's academic quadrangle includes a variety of plazas, walkways, outdoor seating, and plantings, as well as features for managing and containing water run-off.  Specimen trees from the Champion Tree Project International are also planted on the quad and elsewhere on the University's 120-acre campus, as part of the reforestation of the River Rouge watershed.
