Multiple Lawrence Technological University groups are inspiring professionals and students to join together at an exciting conference on the environment. The 6th Annual SOS on the Environment is scheduled for Thursday, February 25 and Friday, February 26, 2010. As the primary organizers, the Lawrence Tech Center for Sustainability and the student branches of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air- Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) look forward to your help with sponsorship of this important event on the Lawrence Tech campus. This year, the SOS on the Environment is titled the Student Organizations Summit: E4 Energy, Engineering, Education and. Michigan has the largest concentration of engineers, an Entrepreneurship in 2010, 2020, 2030 and Beyond existing infrastructure ready to be re-engineered for a new 'green economy', and is a state that is ripe for financial and investment opportunities. We are reaching out to those who have been there, are there, and will be there in the greater region. We are uniting universities, community colleges, high schools and professional groups including architects, engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs within a 200 mile radius. The activities planned for this day and a half summit will include guest lecturers, a vendor area, workshops, and tours of Lawrence Tech's LEED® Silver A. Alfred Taubman Student Services Center, 10kW Photovoltaic System and Alternative Energy Laboratory. Continuing Education and AIA educational units will also be offered to attendees.

Keynote speaker, Stanford R. Ovshinsky, Time Magazine's 1999 "Hero for the Planet", a prolific inventor, entrepreneur, innovator, and initiator of technological breakthroughs in energy and its use, will open the conference at a free lecture on the evening of Thursday, February 25, 2010. Mr. Ovshinsky will be sharing his inspirational journey which will be stimulating to students and professionals alike. Historically sponsored by the Detroit Chapter of ASHRAE and the Lawrence Tech Center for the Sustainability, the SOS event has brought hundreds of professionals and students together for sustainability over the last five years.
