Jennifer Guthrie - Senior Engineering
President

Biography:
Next fall I will be starting my senior year at Lawrence.  I am studying Biomedical Engineering with a mechanical concentration.   I have been involved in many student organizations during these past few years here.  I am a founding member of the Society of Dramatic Arts and have served on their executive board as treasurer for the past three years.  I have been involved with MichBio, Biomedical Engineering Society, and the First Year Mentoring Program.  This past year I served on the Student Government executive board as Secretary.  My experience as a Student Government e-board member has inspired me to run for this position.  I want to be able to do more for the student body and the University.

Issues I care about: I believe that Student Government needs to take a more active role on campus.  All students need to feel that they are able to approach the executive board with their issues and concerns and that something will be done about them.  The student body should know who is representing them and who is taking care of their concerns.

I also want to continue to improve campus life at Lawrence Tech.  We are continually trying to make LTU more like the typical college campus.  As these changes are made I want to ensure that the needs and wants of the student body are kept in mind.   I want to continue to work on the What's on Tap? program and the health initiative that the current e-board has started.  Programs such as these are beneficial to Lawrence Tech's campus life and I would like to initiate similar programs for students.

Dustin Franklin - Junior Engineering
Vice-President

Biography:   I am a third year Civil Engineering major.  I have been a part of Student Government for 1 ½ years and held the position of Tech News Liaison for the past semester.   I have also been a part of Sigma Pi Fraternity for 3 years and held several prominent positions within the fraternity.

Issues I care about: I would like to see Student Government spend their budget in a manner that aids and benefits students.  I would like to increase participation in Student Government to more students.

Tyson DeLandsheer Senior Engineering
Treasurer:

Biography:  I am finishing my third year at LTU as a Biomedical Engineer.  In my three years here participating and taking leadership roles has been a large [art of my life.   In my fraternity, Sigma Pi, I have held two committee chairs as well as an executive board position.   I was Vice President of the Biomedical Engineering Society here at LTU, a Community Leader (RA) and have also participated in the Mikhail organization.  In all of these roles I had to work with the Student Government e-board, and this past year I attended all of the student government meetings.  From all of these roles I have learned that the most part of being a good leader is listening and fighting for those you represent.

Issues I care about:  Biography:  Specifically, as treasurer I think the rules on how money is given out needs to be reviewed.  I believe that organizations should not be allowed o get money from student government for fundraisers; however, for events that are open to all students, I believe that the amount of money an organization can receive should be raised.

Madalyn (Madie) Knebel - Junior Architecture
Secretary

Biography:  In fall 2009 I will be starting my third year at Lawrence Tech as Architecture major.   I first became involved in Student Government after joining Delta Tau Sigma in spring of 2008 and served as the Student Government representative for the following fall semester.  In the past I have served as Secretary for the youth planning board at my church and I presently hold the Corresponding Secretary and Historian positions with Delta Tau Sigma.  I currently work in the Admissions Office on campus serving as a Student Ambassador.  I have lived in North Housing for the past two years as well.

Issues I care about:  Though I love Lawrence Tech, I have noticed some aspects that need improvement.  The ACRC is a great resource for students but I would love to se a better method of paying for prints, such as swiping our student ID cards, I, along with many other students would love to see s home improvements to the variety of food we have on campus in Café Lawrence.  In certain areas of the campus, wireless internet connections are very weak and I feel that this needs to be improved.  Overall, I am very eager to listen to the student body and taker their concerns to heart to make Lawrence Tech an even better university and community.
