The Miss Lawrence Tech Scholarship Pageant is a preliminary pageant for the Miss America Organization.
The Miss America Organization provides contestants with the opportunity to pursue their professional and educational goals through the awarding of monetary grants for education. The Organization is the single largest source of scholarship money for women in the entire world.
The Miss Lawrence Tech Scholarship Pageant will award a total of $2,000 in scholarships to the top five finalists each year as well as awards for winners of preliminary competitions. The winner of the Miss Lawrence Tech Pageant will represent the university throughout the year at student events and local speaking and entertainment engagements and will compete for the title of Miss Michigan in Muskegon, MI in June.
The Miss America judging system is unique in its ability to select individuals who represent the best of America's women; women who can be role models for other women and who care about their role and other women's roles in the world today.
Miss Lawrence Tech, like Miss America, is a woman who has accomplished something meaningful and has the qualities it takes to be successful. Miss Lawrence Tech will be able to speak in her own way and time, to social issues, problems, personal values and interests, and is noted for significant individual contributions and career successes. And still, Miss Lawrence Tech is a vibrant, concerned woman, accepting the challenges for today and possessing even more exciting dreams for tomorrow.
Each contestant in the Miss Lawrence Tech Pageant will compete in four phases of competition:
