Lawrence Tech's team will receive $100,000 over two years from the U.S. Department of Energy to support the Solar Decathlon's research goal of reducing the cost of solar-powered homes and advancing solar technology.
The actual cost for the team to design, build, and transport their home to Washington will be about five times that amount — $500,000.
You can support Lawrence Tech's AloeTerra team through sponsorships, cash gifts, and in-kind gifts of materials, equipment, and services.
Gifts-in-kind represent the largest anticipated source of support for this project. Although services cannot be recognized as charitable contributions under IRS Guidelines, they are represented in the project budget and will be treated and acknowledged by the University as gifts toward the project.
Support the AloeTerra team through one of these unique sponsorships. Sponsors will be listed on the team website and in promotional materials as appropriate. Since Lawrence Tech is the only Michigan university chosen to participate in the 2007 Solar Decathlon, sponsors will receive a high level of visibility.
To make a cash donation, visit www.ltu.edu/alumni/giving.asp. Click on the "Click & Give" logo and complete the form. Apply your gift to the College of Architecture and Design, and under additional comments reference "Solar Decathlon."
