Petitioning to Graduate

Petitioning to graduate is a necessary step that you need to take before you can graduate. Before completing this form, please meet with your designated academic department at least one semester in advance to determine if you are eligible for graduation. If you plan on walking in the commencement ceremony in May your petition is due April 15th.

A graduation fee of $75 for one degree ($115 if completing two degrees in the same semester) for undergraduate and graduate students, $150 for doctoral students is due at the time of the application.  Both the Petition and the Graduation Fee are valid for one academic year.  If graduation requirements are not met within one academic year, the student must submit another Petition for Graduation and another Graduation Fee.

Once this form is submitted to the Office of the Registrar, a preliminary audit of your student file will be completed by your academic department.

After you petition you will start to receive letters from LTU regarding deadlines and other information pertaining to your graduation.

Please remember that in order for you to receive these letters, make sure that we have your correct address. You can check and/or update your address by logging into BannerWeb and going into your personal information.

If you would like to change your original decision on your petition for graduation to attend or not attend the May Commencement ceremony, please fill out the following form completely and submit to the One Stop Center (C304) or fax to 248.204.2229. Please do not email this form.
