About the Leaders & Innovators Profile Series

Each Tuesday, beginning in May 2005, Matt Roush, editor of the Great Lakes IT Report, has featured a different Leader & Innovator – nominated by you and other members of our community. Innovation and leadership should be celebrated and encouraged.

Leadership and innovation are what fuel Michigan’s – and America’s – economy. And even as Michigan’s economy is undergoing transformation, leadership and innovation are key to bringing the necessary changes.

These were the attributes that Lawrence Technological University sought to celebrate when it developed the Leaders & Innovators profile series, a series brought to life with the participation and support of WWJ Newsradio 950, the GreatLakes IT Report, and Grant Thornton LLP.

Innovators often look at problems from a different perspective. Great solutions sometimes seem unworkable, foolish – even impossible.

True innovation also requires leadership – leadership to follow a path that is different, unexplored, and sometimes lonely.

However, when leadership and innovation are combined, we can change industries, solve age-old problems, invigorate a struggling economy, and improve the quality of our community and world.
