2010-11 Technology Updates

 

These one-minute, news-format, radio commercials, produced by and aired on WJR AM760, highlight innovative programs and student achievements at Lawrence Tech. Each weekly topic airs daily during morning and afternoon drive time. The series has been recognized for excellence at both the national and regional level by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

Lawrence Tech students compete in the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition that requires them to draw on their knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science.

Lawrence Tech researchers have developed plans for longer-lasting bridges built with carbon-fiber reinforced polymer materials, and their research on innovative materials also has military applications.

These one-minute, news-format, radio commercials produced by and aired on WJR AM760, highlight the innovative technological projects, programs and achievements of students, faculty and staff at Lawrence Tech. Each weekly topic airs daily during morning drive time and again between 6 and 7 p.m. The Technology Updates series received the national 2005 Silver Award for excellence in advertising from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).  The series also won the 2004 Silver Award for excellence, competing within CASE's midwest district.

New laptops for all undergraduates at Lawrence Tech (week of Oct. 18, 2010)
For the fall semester, all undergraduates at Lawrence Tech received new laptop computers loaded with all the software needed for their courses. This program is included in the cost of tuition.

$1.3 million grant boosts life sciences research (week of Oct. 25, 2010)
A $1.3 million grant from the National Science Foundation will create new research opportunities in the life sciences at Lawrence Tech.
