Learn the essentials of board membership

Southfield, Mich. – “Boardmanship Essentials,” the first in a series of seven BoardWALK workshops on building the capacity of current and prospective nonprofit board members and executive staff, will be held Friday, Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to noon at Lawrence Technological University.

BoardWALK is a collaborative program of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, Detroit Executive Service Corps and Lawrence Tech’s Center for Nonprofit Management, and is sponsored by Cendrowski Corporate Advisors.

The other workshops in the series are:

  • “Making Your Strategic Plan Work,” Dec. 7.
  • “Fund Development for Board Members,” Jan. 4.
  • “Financial Responsibilities of the Board,” Feb. 1.
  • “Building Your Board,” March 7.
  • “The Effective Board Team,” April 4.
  • “Executive Director as Leader,” May 2.

The cost is $35 for individual workshops, or $225 for the series of seven. Continental breakfast is provided. All workshops will be held in room 336, Buell Management Building, Lawrence Technological University, 21000 West Ten Mile Road, Southfield.
