Lawrence Tech waives tuition for Katrina-displaced students

Lawrence Technological University will waive fall semester tuition and fees for students suffering financial hardship as a result of Hurricane Katrina, Charles M. Chambers, president of Lawrence Tech, announced today.

“The thoughts and prayers of the entire Lawrence Tech community are with the victims of this horrific disaster,” Chambers said.  “With the closure or dislocation of so many institutions of higher education in the mid-south, we felt this small token of compassion might offer some hope to those students who nonetheless want to continue their progress toward graduation. Fortunately, we have facilities, faculty, and programs here that can help these students at this difficult time.”

Chambers said that Lawrence Tech can also accommodate displaced students in its on-campus housing and will waive its requirements for advance deposits and late residency fees.

Displaced students who are officially enrolled in an affected college or university should contact Lawrence Tech’s Office of Admissions, 1-800-225-5588, ext. 1, for information.

Lawrence Tech offers over 60 degree programs, through the doctoral level, in Colleges of Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Management. The 5,000-student private university was founded in 1932 and has a 120-acre campus in Southfield as well as learning centers elsewhere in Michigan and academic partnerships in Canada, Germany, Mexico, and Asia.
