Six athletic teams at Lawrence Technological University have made the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 2013-14 Scholar Teams list for having an accumulated grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

Topping the list for the Blue Devils was the women’s cross country team with a 3.37 GPA. Men’s basketball had the next highest GPA at 3.25, followed closely by women’s basketball at 3.20. Also making the list were the men’s cross country team with a 3.13 GPA; women’s soccer, 3.12; and women’s volleyball, 3.11.
As a group, Lawrence Tech’s student athletes finished the 2013-14 academic year with a 3.1 GPA overall. Of the 236 students, 60 percent finished above 3.0, and 42 percent were above 3.25.

If they had been eligible, men’s bowling (3.22), women’s lacrosse (3.16), and women’s bowling (3.03) would have also made the list of Scholar Teams.
“I’m very proud of our student athletes and their dedication. It takes a special individual to succeed in an environment with such a rich academic tradition,” said LTU Athletic Director Scott Trudeau.
