It was a week in the spotlight for Lawrence Tech Women’s Lacrosse when captain Alyssa Shaver took home Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and National Women’s Lacrosse League (NWLL) Player of the Week honors for the last week in March. Shaver is the first Blue Devil to earn national recognition and LTU’s fifth recipient of the weekly WHAC award, which was another first for LTU women’s lacrosse.
Shaver flourished offensively with 19 goals, three assists, and 11 groundballs for the week. Her seven goals and an assist led the Lady Blue Devils past Lourdes University (OH), 18-9, on March 25. It was LTU’s first WHAC win of the inaugural season.
Two days later she collected five goals and seven groundballs against seventh-ranked Aquinas College (MI). She finished out the week against third-ranked Indiana Institute of Technology on March 28 by netting another seven goals while adding two assists as the Warriors edged out the Lady Blue Devils, 21-17.
At the time Shaver ranked third in the country in total goals with 52 and third in total points with 62.
