Release Date: September 11, 2013
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Lawrence Technological University (LTU) has been named to the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list for 2014 compiled by Victory Media, the publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine. The list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and military spouses as students and to ensure their success on campus.
“Inclusion on the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools shows Lawrence Tech’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, vice president of Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. “The need for education is growing and our mission is to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”
According to Victory Media, LTU and the others on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience. These schools have world-class programs and policies for student support on campus, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility and other services to those who have served their country.
Lawrence Tech offers a 15 percent tuition discount to all active military, inactive, reserve or retired military.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has designated Lawrence Tech as a “Yellow Ribbon School” for providing up to $5,500 per year toward that program for qualified veterans.
The Military Friendly Schools® media and website, found at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, feature the list, interactive tools and search functionality to help military students find the best school to suit their unique needs and preferences.
LTU is participating in the Military Friendly Schools Virtual College Fair in November. “The Virtual College Fair will be a great resource for veterans, service members, and their spouses during the school search process,” said Lisa Kujuwa, assistant provost for enrollment services at LTU.
Free online registration for the Virtual College Fair is required for all attendees at www.militaryfriendly.com/events.
