Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for some broomball and basketball! The snow and cold came just in time for Winterfest this week! There will be great events going on the entire week.

We start off with the broomball quarterfinals on Tuesday. For those of you who don’t know what broomball is, picture a lot of people running on ice with funny sticks that don’t look like brooms trying to score in a net. It’s a funny sight to see and an awesome time cheering on your friends.

Then you don’t want to miss Riddler Riot on the Road! If you want to catch the bus to go see the Blue Devil basketball teams, make sure you sign up by Tuesday, Feb. 4. They’ll be stopping at Wingstop before the games.

On Thursday there’s a Winter Lodge Experience in the Ridler Field House lobby. There will be food, games, and of course a whole lot of fun! You can take a break from homework and enjoy some relaxation.

Friday is the big event when LTU goes to the big leagues! You have a chance to purchase $10 tickets to the Pistons game against the Brooklyn Nets! If you’re interested, stop by the Office of Student Engagement by Wednesday. This is a great way to have fun with some friends in the crazy, chilly weather we’re having.

On Saturday we wrap up Winterfest with an LTU Hockey Outdoor Winter Classic against Central Michigan. The puck drops at 12:45 p.m. in Clark Park, Detroit. There will be a bus that can seat up to 45 leaving at 11:45 a.m. Make sure you bundle up and go cheer on our hockey team!

Later that night you can warm up with the Miss Lawrence Tech 2014 Pageant. Come out to watch the girls of LTU strut their stuff to see who is going to win the scholarship and a chance to continue on to the Miss Michigan competition. It starts at 5 p.m. in S100.
