The Center for Nonprofit Management at Lawrence Tech hosted an exchange session on June 14 with 10 delegates from Belarus on the topic of the U.S. nonprofit sector and its relationships with American government agencies related to delivery of social service programs.
The delegation from Belarus was sponsored by the Community Connections Program, which is funded by the U.S. State Department, and the International Visitors Council (IVC) of Detroit.
Jerry Lindman, director of LTU’s Center for Nonprofit Management, served as the facilitator and host. IVC Detroit Director Marian Reich was the co-host.
Topics discussed included:
• Introductions by Belarus delegates about their NGOs and the relationships they have with their government.
• Overview of the laws and regulations governing US nonprofit organizations.
• Benefits of collaboration between the U.S. nonprofit sector and government agencies in the delivery of social service programs.
