The Lawrence Tech Women’s Basketball Team set a school record for most points in a game with the 116-87 victory over Madonna University at LTU’s Ridler Field House on Feb. 19.
The previous record was 91 points in a victory over Northwestern Ohio last season.
Brenda Davis (Lansing, MI), a junior-college transfer turned captain, caught fire right from the tip, scoring 13 points in nine minutes. Sophomore Allison Bicknell (Waterford, MI) added three three-pointers to give the Lady Blue Devils a 29-8 lead ten minutes into the game.
Lawrence Tech finished the night shooting a season-high 54 percent from the field, 57 percent from the three-point area, and 76 percent from the free-throw line. The Lady Blue Devils’ 63 points in the second half was more than they scored in eight games this season.
Six Blue Devils scored in double figures, including senior Jackie Hood (Lake Orion, MI) with a season-high 23 points, one point shy of her career mark. Davis shot eight-of-12 from the floor for a career-high 22 points, while dishing out 10 assists for her first ever double-double. Bicknell buried six three-pointers, tying a career-high with 18 points. A trio of freshmen, Makenzie Svihra (Dexter, MI), Maegan Branham (Michigan Center, MI), and Allison Kitchen (Clio, MI) combined for 45 points and 12 rebounds.
Going into final game of their second season at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids on Feb. 22, the Lady Blue Devils have a record of 10-15 overall and 8-13 in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
