Biography

Annette Lerine Steenkamp is Program Director of the Doctoral Program in Management of Information Technology and Professor in Computer and Information Systems in the College of  Management at the Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan. She holds a PhD in Computer Science, with specialization in Software Engineering. In her career as an educator she has emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of information technology adoption in the enterprise, and the need to work synergistically with knowledge workers in other disciplines. Her teaching philosophy is to create a learning environment which facilitates the exploration of ideas and concepts, permits the application of theories learned in the classroom to problems found in practice, and to cultivate leadership capabilities in every student. She encourages students to participate at national and international conferences, and has co-authored a range of research papers with her students. She serves on several editorial review boards, including IJITSA (International Journal of Information Technologies and the Systems Approach). She has consulted with industry on a range of projects, has played a leadership role in a number of professional bodies, and has supported global initiatives to improve the education of IT professionals, such as the Georgia - US Institute of Advanced Studies (US IAS). She is at present involved in research projects at The Open Group and APQC with some research students.
