What is Lawrence Tech's Master of Science in Global Operations and Project Management?
Lawrence Tech's Master of Science in global Operations and Project Management (MSGOPM) is designed specifically for project and program managers who require a specific skill set to effectively manage operations and projects in an increasingly complex economy by providing a solid understanding of how business processes and systems are designed, developed, and implemented in a sustainable environment.

 
What makes the MSGOPM unique?
The Master of Science in Global Operations and Project Management leverages the knowledge base of Lawrence Tech's Center for Sustainability and the College of Management's Center for Global Leadership to provide you with an understanding of global operations and project management along with cutting edge course work that focuses on sustainable business practices that protect people, resources, and profits.  The program transcends conventional management education and learning by shifting the focus from the transmission of knowledge to the development of program and project managers:  

  • by the emphasis of reflection learning throughout the program that connects what manager/students have learned with their experiences at work
  • by offering course work in project management that prepares the student for PMI certification
  • by combining the redesigned core of Lawrence Tech's popular master program in operations management with the critical components of project management education

 
What is the structure of the Master of Science in Global Operations and Project  Management?
Lawrence Tech's MSGOPM can be completed in less than two years by taking two classes each semester.
The curriculum consists of 30 credit hours of course work; seven core courses and three elective courses. Each course is delivered by way of workshops, seminars, exercises, case analysis, and other forms of interactive learning. 

 
Are there foundation or pre-core requirements?
Students are expected to have a working knowledge of business statistics. This knowledge and understanding can come from prior coursework and/or substantial work experience. Students who do not meet this expectation will be able to take business statistics on-line or on ground at Lawrence Tech.


What is the specific curriculum required to complete the program?
The program is 30 credit hours and consists of Core Course Work (21 Credits) and Electives (Select 3 courses for 9 Credits)

Will the Master of Science in Global Operations and Project Management be offered entirely on-line?
Some course work will be offered online; some courses will be offered half online and half on-ground; some courses will be offered entirely on-ground.


How is the online component integrated into the student's learning experience?
The online component allows for interaction and engagement between the instructor/facilitator and the student outside of the formal class meeting. Through the use of the University's Blackboard tool, open discussion and other interaction are encouraged.

When will the Master of Science in global Operations and Project Mangement program be launched?

The MSGOPM will be enrolling for the Summer 2010 term.

Is the MSGOPM degree an accredited degree program? 
Yes.  Lawrence Tech's master degree in operations and project management  is fully accredited by the North Central Association, the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education, and the Association for Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.


What is the cost of tuition and other fees?
Tuition for the program starting in summer 2010 will be the standard graduate credit hour rate as indicated on the Lawrence Tech website at www.ltu.edu. Registration fees and textbooks are separate costs.
