The Master of Science in Operations Management degree at Lawrence Technological University combines real-life learning with a strong theoretical base in both operations and high-level management. This unique program is designed for working professionals in such fields as manufacturing, construction, technology services, retail sales, nonprofit organizations, and government who are seeking to enhance their abilities in the management of capital and human resources.
Successful managers in the 21st century need more than just knowledge. They also must possess an understanding of organizational behavior and how organizations interact with the society around them. Lawrence Tech’s MS in Operations Management offers an innovative approach to management education that uses team-oriented learning situations, with an emphasis on case studies, to link theory with practice.
This program, which can be completed in as few as 18 months, prepares you to participate as a highly skilled member of a professional operations management team or to function as a high-level project manager for consulting firms, start-up companies, or large-scale construction projects.
A Program You Can Grow With
The curriculum consists of 30 hours of course work, including 21 hours of core courses and nine hours of electives, chosen from the areas of manufacturing operations, service operations, or project management. Students without a good foundation in statistics must complete a two credit statistics course. An overall GPA of 3.0 is required for graduation.
To meet the varied needs of its students and maximize their learning opportunities, the College of Management offers three formats for course delivery:
-
Traditional courses are taught exclusively in the classroom, usually on weekday evenings or Saturdays, and are offered on the Southfield campus and at some of Lawrence Tech’s education centers.
-
Hybrid courses consist of approximately 50 percent classroom time and 50 percent online learning activities. Hybrid courses are offered at the Southfield and education center campuses.
-
Online courses involve no classroom time and can be completed at the student’s convenience. These courses provide maximum flexibility for students with challenging work and personal schedules.
