Biography

Jerry serves as Senior Lecturer and Director of the Center for Nonprofit Management. He teaches graduate coursework both onground and online.

Prior to joining LTU's Center for Nonprofit Management, Jerry worked at the Dorothy Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Grand Valley State University as Manager for Community Outreach and as Director for Outreach at the Michigan Nonprofit Association. His work in outreach to the nonprofit sector includes planning, marketing and delivery of effective seminars and conferences on subject matter such as fund development, board development and finance & accounting.

He contributed and co-authored content for the Nonprofit Good Practices Guide (www.nonprofitbasics.org), a website dedicated to web-based delivery of best practice information to nonprofits. Jerry has participated in the design and delivery of service learning classes and wrote training curriculum on public policy advocacy for nonprofits.

Jerry's career also includes six years with the Michigan Legislature and nine years with the Michigan Supreme Court. He enjoys transferring this in-depth knowledge and experience regarding public policy making to nonprofit organizations through his trainings and consulting in public policy advocacy and lobbying.

His education consists of BS in Economics from Michigan State University and law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Jerry serves as chair of the Endowment Committee at University Lutheran Church in East Lansing. He also serves on the Board of Prevention Network. Jerry lives in East Lansing with his spouse and two teenage children.
