Approach To Information Systems Education

The College of Management offers three Information Systems degree programs: bachelors, masters, and doctoral. These programs are carefully designed to lead students progressively through their career in the field.

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology - The mission of the BSIT program is to apply theory and practice, to graduate from the program with usable (i.e. employable) skills, and to provide industry with well-educated individual having good communication skills and a good understanding of business. The BSIT program focuses on practical experience and marketable skills for network administrators, systems analysts, business process analysts, consultants, and business application developers. The focus of the BSIT program is on building products.

Master of Science in Information Systems - The MSIS program focuses on advanced experience that will help advance the career of IS professionals. The MSIS program focuses on a wide range of skills including:

  • Leadership and management
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Teamwork and problem solving
  • Communications
  • Technical skills, architectures, and standards
  • Processes and manufacture

The MSIS program prepares Information Systems professionals for future advance to senior levels including CTO and CIO roles. The focus of the MSIS program is on manufacturing products and managing organizations to deploy products.

Doctor of Management in Information Technology - The DMIT program focuses on leadership skills for CIOs and CTOs or professionals who aspire to these positions. The DMIT program explores state-of-the-art technologies, theoretical frameworks, enterprise system design, and system integration. DMIT students create new contributions to the field of IT leadership and management through their dissertation research.
