Louis A. DeGennaro is a Professor of Legal Studies at Lawrence Tech and Dean of the College of Management, having joined Lawrence Tech in 1971. He attended the University of Detroit for his pre-law studies in Philosophy and Psychology. He has a doctorate of jurisprudence from Michigan State University College of Law (1968). His post-law studies were at Harvard (1979) and Cambridge (1985).

Professor DeGennaro has served as a court appointed mediator for the Oakland and Wayne County Circuit Courts and a Hearings Officer for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. He is the author of Law & Society (1977); Employment Relations and the Law (1979); Law as a Social Force (1986); Intro to Principles of Business Law (1986); Business and the Law (1991); and Legal Environment of Business (1994). He also authored a bi-weekly newspaper column entitled “Law for the Living.”

During his tenure at Lawrence Tech, Professor DeGennaro served as University Legal Counsel from 1980 to 1990; Chair of the Student Discipline Committee from 1992 to 1995, Associate Dean from 1994 to 1995; Dean of the College of Management from 1995 to present; Interim Dean of the College of Engineering from 1999–2000; and Secretary to the Board of Trustees from 1997 to the present. In 1995, Professor DeGennaro was selected Professor of the Year for teaching excellence.
