Being oldest of four children, I helped my mom point my younger siblings down the best path for them. I love any type of arts and crafts project you could think of, as well as almost all kinds of music. Meeting new people is a great joy to me, along with traveling and photography, and I like to think that I’m a pretty open person. Fashion is my passion and watching my designs come to life in the construction process brings me the greatest joy.

Hey guys, Welcome to LTU! My name is Austin, and I am from the west side of the state. I am a pretty busy guy who likes to have fun and make the most out of everything I do. You’ll find me at the majority of LTU events. I am a strong believer that if you want to really enjoy college, you’ve got to get out there and get involved. I also love to help new students. I’ve been told I’m a pretty easy guy to talk to, so if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to let me know. The line is always open.

First of all, I’ve got to say that I am so excited about being a first year mentor this year! I love my life here at LTU, and especially love hanging out with friends, watching movies, listening to music and shopping. After graduation I plan on getting a job (hopefully!) in marketing/public relations/event planning and one day planning the Grammy’s and/or taking over the word (in my spare time).

I’m an extremely social person. If you see an  event happening on campus, I probably planned it, I’m already there, or both! I also live adjacent to campus, so I’m really easy to find when needed. I love the color green, puppies, playing with Frisbees, and getting to know people. I am also a large advocate for LGBT equality and suicide prevention. Finally, I love almost every form of music and I play the saxophone. If you share any interests with me, don’t hesitate to talk to me. Remember, I love meeting new people and making friends!

Name: Benjamin Guettler
Major: Architecture/ Civil Engineering Dual
Year @ LTU: 5th year senior
Contact Info: guettler.benjamin@gmail.com
Campus Involvement: Sigma Phi Epsilon, LTU Bike Crew, ASCE, AIAS

I’m  a country boy at heart, and I love being outside. There is nothing better than getting out in the woods after a long day, you can just sit there in the dark and the moonlight and let your mind go blank. I think friends and family are the two most important things in the world. I love country music and classic rock but I can listen to pretty much anything. I believe that chivalry and the ideals of our fathers and grandfathers have all but disappeared in this world, and I strive everyday to bring those back. I believe that everyone has the right to their own beliefs, that’s your God given right. But don’t try and push your beliefs onto someone else, because chances are they’re not going to care. Basically, I’m a pretty easy going, quiet guy. I’ll always be there for anyone that needs my help, and I’m not afraid to ask for it when I need it.

I am an outgoing person, some may call me quirky and reserved. I enjoy being social as much as possible, and I believe it’s exactly what will get you far in your life goals! I have become a huge audiophile over the past years and I am always listening to some new song or band. I also take part in urban explorations and have a great deal of interest in photography.

Some of my favorites though include volleyball, baseball, hockey, snowboarding and tennis. I also enjoy staying in shape by working out and running. Ping-pong was and still is an addiction for me, and I am always ready for a good game. My other hobbies include guitar, photography/film, and art. I also greatly enjoy traveling and love meeting new people. I look forward to getting to know you all throughout this year.

I like to spend time with family and friends whenever possible. I come from a family of 5 and have an older brother and a younger sister. I enjoy taking family vacations around the country and going up north to my cabin. There is never a dull moment with my family, as we are always doing something. I also like watching TV and reading books and watching movies, when I have the time to. I enjoy staying up late and having fun but when I do go to sleep, I am impossible to wake up. The first time my friends tried to wake me up, they thought I had died, but now they just laugh at me. Lastly, I like being involved in things on campus and I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends.

I’m commonly found singing loudly or studying. Music, the arts and school take over my life but I love every second of it. I work a full time Co-op job at MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) for Geotechnical Civil Engineering and this is my third year with them. The first two years were high school internships. I’m very active with everything I do and wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything. I live for the music and always dance to it!

Hi, I’m Shantel Miller.  I am usually working on a project and with my job in the math department. I am nearly always on campus or going back and forth between my dorm and studio at all hours. This has lead to many great opportunities for me, including becoming a first year mentor. It has been so easy to become involved in different activities on campus and has allowed me to meet so many great people. The time that I don’t spend on campus, I just relax with friends and try to catch up on some reading.

Name: Megan Ziegler
Major: Media Communications
Year @ LTU: 4th year
Contact Info: mziegler@ltu.edu
Campus Involvement: SPAM, Circle K

I’m Megan and this is my first year as a mentor. I’ll be graduating in the spring with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Communication, so you’ll probably spot me around campus with a video camera glued to my hand.  Also, you’ll be sure to find me at a lot of events on campus as I’m a member of SPAM, LTU’s events planning organization. But aside from work and school, I still am a lot of fun. I am totally that person who sings every second of every car drive. I promise I will laugh at every joke you tell, and it will be genuine because I love to laugh. I waste my time watched movies and playing The Sims. Oh, and if you find any good recipes, give them to me because I’m trying to become the best chef ever.
