RIIS, Research Into Internet Systems, is a web and mobile development company with clients in the telecommunications, healthcare, insurance, education, banking, and manufacturing verticals such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, BroadSoft, Cengage, Comerica, DTE Energy, Thyssen Krupp, Bonddesk, Proctor Financial, Telnet WW, and Fandango. In 2009, MEDC's Michigan Economic Growth Authority approved a state tax credit valued at $1.1 million to encourage RIIS's expansion in Michigan. In addition, Oakland County provided training funds to support the company's expansion from Royal Oak to Southfield. RIIS also recently opened an office in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The company was named one of nine in BroadSoft's 2011 Xtended Incubator Program, a global initiative designed to accelerate development of in-demand voice, mobile, and web-based communications. RIIS also developed the DTE Energy Outage Center app for iPhone users, which allows customers to report power outages, view the status of a reported problem, and explore a map illustrating the number of outages reported.
