If the student's course of study is in a language study program, no on-line or distance education classes may be counted toward the full course of study requirement.
Programs which are completely online do not meet the requirements for an international student to study in the United States. Hybrid courses may be acceptable if a substantial component is held on-ground and requires the student's physical attendance for classes, examinations, or other purposes integral to completion of the class.
It is extremely important for a nonimmigrant to maintain his/her status while studying in the United States. Failure to comply with the regulations set forth by the federal government constitutes grounds for removal from the United States.
