1) Complete the FAFSA by March 1st (if possible) ever year
2) Complete your tax returns before completing the FAFSA (be nice to your parents if you are depending on their information)
3) Keep good records (tax and loan records)
4) Provide all requested supporting application information and documentation ASAP
5) Spend wisely (watch spending of refund checks and credit cards)
6) Don’t over borrow, only borrow alternative loans if necessary
7) Know all of the sources of financial aid (federal, state, LTU, private)
8) Search for scholarships
9) Be careful for scholarship donor impostors
10) Pay attention to deadlines and due dates
11) Seek help from advisor and register for appropriate work load (affects cost and academic progress)
12) Get good grades (watch SAP)

14) Be accurate and timely with all application material
