Chris Riedel joined Lawrence Technological University in 2000 as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He holds a B.S. degree from Oakland University and M.S. and Ph. D. degrees from Wayne State University, all in Mechanical Engineering. His areas of interest and expertise are dynamics, vibrations, and applied mechanics. His industrial experience includes working for Yazaki EDS Engineering as a design engineer and TRW Vehicle Safety Systems as a technician.
Dr. Riedel is the Assistant Director of the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) program. He is also the Faculty Advisor for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) MiniBaja competition and is a co-advisor for both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and SAE student chapters at Lawrence Tech.
Dr. Riedel is a member of several engineering societies and technical committees. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He also regularly reviews papers for journals and conferences and has done consulting in the areas of mechanical design and finite element analysis.
