I am proud that Lawrence Tech University is in Oakland County. This is a world class institution of higher learning.
On the Go ...
Congressman Knollenberg recently dropped by Lawrence Tech University to say hi and check out the exciting new solar house being built by engineering students. The congressman also visited to learn more about the innovative carbon fiber technology being developed by Dr. Nabil Grace. Congressman Knollenberg has funded the development of this technology in the past for use in bridges. He is excited about its potential and believes more resources should be put into materials science R&D.
Ten Times Stronger than Steel
Carbon fiber is ten times stronger than steel and significantly lighter. This technology should be used in more bridges in America. Carbon fiber will end up saving taxpayers a lot of money as maintenance costs drop and our bridges become safer and more durable.
