WELCOME TO THE LAWRENCE TECH RECYCLING COMMITTEE WEBSITE

The Lawrence Tech University Recycling Committee is comprised of faculty, students, staff and administrators who are vitally interested in a successful on-campus recycling program.   Inspired and initiated by former students, the Lawrence Tech Recycling Committee was formed in June of 2004.  The first campus recycling effort began with the recycling of office paper, magazines, newspapers, junk mail and phone books.

At present, paper recyclables are collected by each department, transferred to large collection bins (located in five areas on campus), then picked up weekly by Great Lakes International.  GLI bin locations are:

  • Buell Building – loading dock, outside
  • Engineering Building – loading dock, outside
  • Arts & Sciences Building – basement, inside near elevator (authorized personnel only)
  • Architecture – basement, inside near beverage machines
  • Taubman Center – Recycling Room
  • UTLC – basement, inside near back door

The A.Alfred Taubman Student Services Center, a LEED certified, “green-designed” building, houses the Recycling Room, which will ultimately be the focal point for campus recycling.

In the near future, the Recycling Committee will be overseeing the collection of returnable soda pop bottles and cans, as well as the recycling of glass, plastic, cans, and cardboard.

The committee sponsors an annual Earth Day and a recycling display in April.
