Why Engineering Technology at Lawrence Tech?

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program is designed both for individuals who already hold an associate degree in engineering technology from other institutions and for those who are concurrently completing their associate degree at Lawrence Tech. Students can attend full-time or part-time and choose from four areas of specialization: communications engineering technology, construction engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology, and mechanical engineering technology. All technical courses are taught on weekday evenings, with other courses available during the day.

Lawrence Tech’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology degree adds a broader technical base to the highly specialized associate degree programs, allowing graduates to exercise a higher level of technical responsibility. The program also emphasizes the administrative skills required for most technical supervisory roles and is thus especially useful to upwardly mobile technicians who are preparing for new career opportunities.

Personal attention and a commitment to preparing you for a leadership role in your chosen field are important priorities at Lawrence Tech. The University’s signature theory and practice approach combines in-depth academic study with a wealth of practical knowledge that can help you sharpen your problem-solving capabilities. The capstone senior project course provides a unique opportunity to use your skills to develop an innovative consumer product.

To further enhance your realworld experience, co-op programs and industry-sponsored projects provide valuable contacts with leading companies and the opportunity to combine paid on-the-job experience with classroom studies.
