Alexzandria 'Ali' Barnard is the first point of contact for all inquiries regarding the Dean.
As secretary to the Dean, she is also responsible for maintaining all personnel records for the College, preporation and processing of scheduling meetings, travel and special events and provides secretarial support to Department Chairs, faculty and staff members.
Ms. Barnard gathers statistical information for the annual ACSA report; prepares the ACSA Directory and assists with the Guide to Architecture Schools.
Ms. Barnard majored in Liberal Arts at Wayne County Community College and is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Lawrence Technological University.
Don Bernhardt
Vice President , Lear Corporation
Don Bernhardt was named Vice President Product Engineering in March 2006 and is responsible for all product engineering and design activity within Lear’s Seating Systems Division. Prior to his current position he was the Vehicle Team Executive responsible for the DCX SUV programs, which include the HB and HG ( Durango and Aspen) vehicles.
Bernhardt joined Lear in 1986 as a junior manufacturing engineer and has held several positions of increasing responsibility within the Engineering, Continuous Improvement and Platform Management groups. Prior to his current position, he was vice president of North American Engineering for Lear’s Seating Systems Division.
Bernhardt earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan and a master of business administration degree from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan.
He is a member of the Lawrence Technological University Lear Entrepreneurial Program Advisory Board as well as a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Dana discovered the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving, TRIZ, after over 24 years of in-depth experience in the optimization and development of products and processes. His expertise encompasses the practical application, consulting, facilitation and training of such methodologies as Statistical Analysis, Taguchi Methods, Value Engineering / Analysis (VE/VA), Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Quick Setup Techniques (SMED), Work Simplification, Business Process Innovation (BPI), FAST Cycle Time (Phase Gate) and Organizational Engineering.
After learning about Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ), in 1993, Dana became the first American to be certified as a TRIZ Specialist by a TRIZ Master, and in April of 2001 became the first and only American to be certified as a TRIZ Specialist by the International Association of TRIZ ( Russia ). Beyond his certifications, he spent 15 man-years working among the leading TRIZ experts in the world and has been actively involved in the development and advancement of the TRIZ Methodology. His work in TRIZ has led to the development of unique approaches for Structured Innovation and Team Building in all areas of business, science and engineering. Dana's research has included the integration of TRIZ and Artificial Intelligence for solving and optimizing non-linear business problems. He currently has over ten years of practical application and facilitation experience solving industry problems using TRIZ, and is the author of one book and numerous articles.
Dana has worked with teams involved in a diversity of industries including but not limited to: manufacturing operations of all types; heat treatment; chemistry and chemical processes; satellites; aviation; elevators and escalators; fuel cells; molding, casting and forging; military weaponry; futurist propulsion systems; oil drilling and processing; nuclear facilities; electronics; food science and manufacturing; plastics; locomotives; motors, and more.

Laura has developed a solid reputation for her ability to solve complex planning problems and is known for her interest in the integration of new and emerging technologies. Laura has served as a juror, project advisor and adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University. In addition to participating on several academic committees, she was also a member of the technology focus group for Project Kaleidoscope.
Laura is an architect and founding principal of iDesign having extensive experience in both pre-design planning and architectural design. She has been involved in a great number of projects focused on the science and technology market. Her laboratory consulting has included educational, medical, government and commercial clients in the areas of biology, limnology, radio-pharmaceutical, medical treatment, wet laboratories and related facilities. Laura is a nationally recognized laboratory planner and has several lectures, books and articles to her credit. In 2004, she served as a juror for the Lab of the Year competition sponsored by R&D Magazine.
Laura received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University, magna cum laude, and a Master's Degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois U-C, including gradute studies at the Beckman Institute, which is a leader in multi-disciplinary collaborative research. In December of 2003, Laura achieved LEED-accreditation with U.S. Green Building Council. She has closely followed the development of the LEED for Lab initiative for which one of her projects was identified by the committee as pilot project candidate.

David Darbyshire earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Lawrence Technological University in 1987. Together with his brother Richard Darbyshire, David is the Co-founder of DASI Solutions LLC which services the needs of Emerging Sector companies across Michigan and Indiana with the sales, implementation and technical support of the SolidWorks and Cosmos engineering software. He is an active member of the business community serving Automation Alley as the Workforce Development Committee Chair. David was elected as Automation Alley’s Member of the Year award in 2007, in part for his withstanding commitment to the planning of Superhighway to Success, a day long event that allowed 10,000 high school students to explore careers in Michigans’s emerging sectors. He is also involved with the educational community as a member of the Michigan Design Educator Association and Michigan Industrial & Tech Education Society MITES. Mr. Darbyshire is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Jackson Area Manufacturing Society, and is an active participant of the Design and Manufacturing Alliance of Southeast Michigan. David is one of eleven children from Richard and Genevieve Darbyshire, in which eight of his siblings also hold Mechanical Engineering degrees. David Darbyshire and his wife Lori reside in Lake Orion, Michigan with their two young children Katelyn and Ava.

Professor Feierfeil has been at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) since Spring 2002 and is a College Professor and Director of the Lear Entrepreneurial Program for Mechanical Engineering. Professor Feierfeil received a BSME from the University of Detroit and his MSME from Wayne State University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Michigan. He founded the Student Chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneur’s Organization (CEO), and is actively participating as the faculty advisor.
Prior to joining LTU, he had a successful career at Ford Motor Company, which spanned over 35 years. During that time, he held positions in Product Engineering, Testing Operations, Information Management, and Strategic Planning. He has experienced the broad spectrum of engineering responsibilities including 10 years as a Product Development Engineer in Automotive Fuel Systems, 10 years of Supervision in Fuel Systems and Emissions Testing Laboratories, and 15 years in Information Management and Engineering Technology Strategic Planning.
He has made presentations to the American Society of Engineering Educators, the Roundtable for Entrepreneurship Education, and the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance.
Architect and founder of the product and business innovation firm epiphany ideation – LLC (www.epiphanyideation.com), and is currently a member of the Booz Allen Hamilton missions engineering team in Virginia. Mr. Massara is a distinguished product and business innovator, with (23) awarded patents & (2) additionally pending. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University and has worked in the automotive industry for 23 years. He has held executive and leadership roles in R&D across NA & Europe and has invented and taken numerous products from concept through to production.
