Geotechnical properties of municipal solid waste (MSW): Collaboration with University of Illinois at Chicago to conduct research on the variation of geotechnical properties of MSW with age and moisture. 
Stability analysis of bioreactor landfills: Collaborative research proposal was submitted to NSF in October 2007 with Missouri University of Science & Technology as the collaborating institution.
Settlement mechanics of bioreactor landfills: Continue to collaborate with New Jersey Institute of Technology and the University of Calgary, Calgary.
Scouring at bridge piers: Continue to collaborative with Wayne State University, Michigan DOT program.
Shear Strength Properties of soils: An energy balance based new methodology was developed to estimate shear strength properties soils using SPT blow counts.
