What is Computer Engineering?
Computer engineering is that branch of engineering organized jointly around the sciences of computer science, electricity and magnetism, especially digital circuits. It is the set of tools and techniques that have been developed to apply these sciences to design processes and devices that improve the quality of human life. The purpose of all engineering is to design new processes or devices that meet human needs. Computers have become ubiquitous. It is hard find a modern device that does not contain a computer, even if the consumer does not see the computer directly.
· When you use your cell phone, do you see a computer?
· When you drive a car, how many computers are you using?
· In your kitchen, how many computers are embedded in your appliances?
· What new, interesting, and beneficial uses can you see for computers?
· How do you design a computer to efficiently perform a special task?
Computer Engineer’s are employed in virtually all major industries including
· Automotive
· Aerospace
· Food preparation
· Power
· Biomedical
· Communications (including cell phones)
