Educational Objectives

The mission of the Civil Engineering Department is to offer a program directed toward a broad, high quality, contemporary, baccalaureate educational experience in the civil engineering discipline, in parallel with the guiding principle of the university of “Theory and Practice.” The objectives are to offer a program designed to provide students with a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of engineering:

  • Where students have the ability to identify the problem, formulate and analyze engineering alternatives, and solve the problem individually as well as in a team environment
  • That prepares students to apply contemporary computer based skills for the solution of civil engineering problems
  • That prepares students to effectively communicate in a professional engineering environment
  • That stresses all aspects of professionalism including the need for professional development through life-long learning and the benefits of becoming a licensed professional engineer.

Educational Outcomes

The Civil Engineering Department at Lawrence Technological University will offer a program in which our graduates have:

  • an ability to apply knowledge and principles of mathematics, science, and engineering in the solution of civil engineering problems
  • an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze data and interpret results
