This annual summer workshop is an event hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering at Lawrence Tech. in collaborate with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and HNTB Michigan Inc., a civil engineering firm. About 100 high school students from the southeast Michigan region participates in the civil engineering workshop. The objective of the workshop is to educate these high students on careers in civil engineering by introducing exploration activities in all aspects of civil engineering such as transportation, structures, surveying, heavy construction and construction materials.

Students members of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) collaborate with their former local high school STEM teachers to bring civil engineering Tinker Labs into their classrooms. With the assistance of civil engineering faculty, ASCE students demonstrate civil engineering activities to educate and excite high students to bring home the perception that it is fun to be a civil engineer.
