Program Educational Objectives

 

The Department of Civil Engineering offers a program where students obtain the education and skill set so that, upon graduation, they are prepared to achieve the following professional objectives:

  • identify, analyze and solve today's complex engineering challenges while creating a sustainable environment;
  • successfully serve as leaders and contributors on team-based projects;
  • improve the civil engineering profession by practicing in an ethical and responsible manner, and by participating in lifelong learning opportunities that lead to professional licensure; and
  • demonstrate professional expertise by communicating their engineering ideas and solutions to various audiences, including the general public, colleagues, clients, and governmental policy makers.
