Impressions

This footwear product incorporates the use of a unique material, 3179 Dilatant Compound, which provides support and comfort. This material is arranged in the shoe’s mid-sole, to fully make contact with the major areas of the foot. The top layer of the sole is fitted around the 3179 Dilatant Compound, providing comfort for the foot and housing for the elastic material. Depending on where contact force is made on the elastic material by the foot, this material will change its viscosity instantaneously. This material will mold to the shape of a foot in the resting state and change its viscosity support depending on applied force.

Kid's Bike Chariot

This specialized children’s bicycle trailer was built to withstand longer and rougher trips for more adventurous athletes. The Kid’s Bike Chariot was designed with extra storage space, built into the frame along each side, in addition to the conventional storage space behind the passenger. The chariot is also equipped with two wheel cradles that can be coupled to the front wheels of two bikes so that they may be towed behind. The unit is equipped with a hinged antirollover device, which is activated when the trailer becomes uneven. This safety feature consists of an arm with a wheel on the end that extends to prevent the trailer from capsizing. In addition to the safety, storage, and towing capabilities, this unit is also foldable in order to help reduce the amount of space needed for storage.

Model-T

In October 2008, Ford Motor Company will mark the 100th anniversary of the Model-T, a revolutionary vehicle that literally put the world on wheels. In celebration of this historic milestone, Ford presented a challenge to six colleges from around the world to create a detailed concept for a Model-T for this century. Working in conjunction with a transportation design team from Lawrence Tech’s College of Architecture and Design, engineering technology students worked to develop an innovative, modern-day Model-T vehicle. The revolutionary Model-T has a simple, durable, and lightweight design that is cost efficient. The vehicle is a standard two-passenger design with an economy friendly engine.

Releasable Anchor for Hockey Net

This system was designed to anchor the posts of an ice hockey net to the ice, without damaging the playing surface. A peg, which secures the net to the ice, is mounted inside of the post and is retracted or engaged using a toggle-type clamp located on the inside of the net. A clamp extends or retracts a rod inside the post, which anchors the net to the ice via the peg, or retracts the peg into the post releasing the net from the playing surface.
