ELEMENT ONE CARS TALL

Welcome to the new Element One

Element One is a Lawrence Technological University student lead alternative energy project participating in the 2008-2009 Formula Zero Race Series. Element One decided to rethink the basics of karting, and instead of building a typical steel chassis, researched was conducted in carbon fiber technologies. This brought us a first place standing in the design competition and the lightest kart in the field at the Rotterdam Race Event.

Our team didn't stop with the chassis, but conducted massive amounts of research in the motor and electrical system. We were able to incorporate regenerative braking into our kart to help give us even more of an edge. The regenerative braking helps to decelerate the kart, along with, capturing energy that would otherwise be wasted as heat. When it came to power storage, the choice was simple: ultra-capacitors. They are lighter and release their power faster than batteries for that extra burst of speed needed to exit a corner.

We hope you enjoy your stay. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact us at leadership@ltufz.com.
