What is SafeAssign?
SafeAssign is a plagiarism prevention tool and citation checking tool that is integrated within Blackboard. SafeAssign is designed to help you know if you have properly cited papers by flagging text found in other online sources and it is used to verify original works.
Safe Assignments are added in Blackboard by your instructor and are identified from other assignments by the icon displayed (a "green checkmark").
To submit your assignment select the "View/Complete" hyperlink to open the Upload SafeAssignment window
Once the Upload SafeAssignment window opens scroll down and to the right of "Files To Attach" click "Choose File"
Locate the file you want to submit, select (highlight) and click Open.
I receive "not logged in" error when trying to submit my Safe Assignment project?
If you receive an error when you attempt to submit your Safe Assignment it may be your browser security settings are set to not allow 3rd party cookies. If this occurs change your browser security Privacy setting to allow Blackboard.com and SafeAssignment.com and retry. Watch the below video showing how to do this in Firefox.
NOTE IMPORTANT: SafeAssign accepts files in .doc, .docx, .odt, .txt, .rtf, .pdf, and .html file formats ONLY. Do not upload files in any other formats
If the instructor has set the assignment as a "Final" you will see the option (checkbox) to include your paper in global database. Draft Safe Assignments do not have this option displayed.
Click Submit to finalize. Once submitted there is a brief waiting period until the assignment is checked and a Safe Assignment report is generated. Once the report is generated you will be able to view the report by selecting the assignment View/Complete option or view detail in MyGrades area.
