General Distribution Information

Distribution: major laptop distributions are scheduled at the beginning of each term. The distribution process begins in the atrium of the Buell Management Building and ends at the Computer Help Desk in the Taubman Student Services Building.

After regularly scheduled major distributions have ended, the Help Desk will distribute laptops to students and faculty Monday - Thursday from 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The Help Desk also distributes laptops by appointment.

Laptop Return: students who are graduating, withdrawing, or transferring at the end of the academic term must return their laptops during the posted laptop return dates.
 

 

Laptop Distribution Procedures


Faculty Distribution
Before picking up a laptop, faculty must provide a fully executed Laptop Authorization form signed by the appropriate personnel from their department and a signed 2012 Faculty Laptop Agreement.
Student Distribution:
Before a student receives a laptop, they must:

  • Register for classes for the current term.
  • Pay a $500 security deposit, payable by check or credit card.
  • Have a Lawrence Tech photo ID card.
  • Sign the laptop agreement which is online in BannerWeb

The One Stop Service Center, room C304 Taubman Student Services Building accepts payments of the laptop security deposits and provides Lawrence Tech Photo IDs.
 
We will not distribute laptops to anyone other than the person to whom it is assigned. Parents, relatives, or friends may not pick up a laptop for a Lawrence Tech student or faculty member. Students and faculty must pick up their laptops in person. There are no exceptions to this policy.
 
 

 Laptop Return Procedures

Upon semester completion, complete withdrawal, graduation from LTU, or notification by LTU, the immediate return of the LTU Laptop is required.  In addition, upon premature departure from the University, whether by dismissal, involuntary withdrawal, or other occurrence, the student must return the LTU Laptop within 5 business days to the Computer Help Desk.

Late fees of $20 per business day will be charged if the laptop is returned after 5 business days from the date of departure from Lawrence Tech

Students:  If you have final exams after the return deadline, an exception will be made for you to return your laptop one business day following your last exam without any penalty.

The LTU laptop must be returned in its original condition, less reasonable wear, to Computer Help Desk, room C203,Taubman Center. Please ensure the stylus is included with all tablet returns, as well as the docking station or external burner.

Please use the following guidelines prior to returning your LTU laptop:
  • The keyboard and screen must be clean.
  • Be sure to remove personal files from your laptop prior to returning to Help Desk. Files may be stored on the M:\ drive, burned to a CD or other external media.
  • Remove cds from the cd-rom.
Upon return of the LTU laptop to the Help Desk, please utilize the following procedures:

  • Remove laptop and power adapter from carrying case.
  • Boot-up laptop (to your user account).
  • Remove all accessories from the case

    Please back up your data prior to returning your laptop!
