Using Performance Dashboard to Assess Student Attendance

One method of assessing student attendance is to review that they have logged into the Blackboard course and are participating in assigned course material.

Blackboard's Performance Dashboard provides a summary of student access and activity.

Select and expand the “Evaluation” menu under the Control Panel in the desired course
Select (click) “Performance Dashboard”
The column “Days Since Last Course Access” indicates the number of days since a student last accessed the course.
The column “Discussion Board” provides a count for the number of forums the student has participated in (clicking on the number in this column provides access to students’ activity in these forums).

This combined total of "Days Since Last Course Access" and "Discussion Board" count provides an overview of students’ classroom attendance.
